Erika LaMay, a Paul V. Moore High School student who mentored at A.A. Cole Elementary School, was the recipient of the Michael P. Yeomans Scholarship Award.

According to www.bbbs-syr.org, “Michael Yeomans was a Little Brother in Onondaga County who wanted so much to become a Big Brother after he graduated from high school.

Unfortunately, he did not live long enough.

This award is given in his memory to Littles or Bigs in Onondaga County who are graduating from high school and who also want to give back and/or continue their volunteer work.”

LaMay had to submit an application along with an essay regarding her experience in the BBBS program and how she intends to pursue volunteer work after high school.
