PULASKI, NY – Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County, Karrie Damm has announced that the agency has expanded its operations with the addition of new satellite site in Pulaski.
Located at 4822 Salina St., the new location will allow the CAC to better serve the northern part of Oswego County.
A non-profit charitable organization, the CAC provides a range of services to children who have been physically, sexually, or emotionally abused.
“We are excited to have a location in Pulaski. It allows us to increase our presence in the northern part of the county and make our services more readily available,” said Damm. “Oswego County covers a large area. Since we serve children and families throughout the entire county it can sometimes be challenging for our consumers to travel to our Fulton office. With its proximity to the Route 81 corridor our new Pulaski location helps to alleviate travel concerns by offering easy access to not only those in the northern region of the county, but also to those in the southern and eastern region as well.”
According to Damm, the CAC’s Pulaski office will have a victim advocate and mental health counselor on site.
Additionally, the office houses an interview room for forensic investigations by law enforcement agencies and the Department of Social Services, and a second room for use by the multi-disciplinary team, which is comprised of a cross-section of law enforcement investigators, child protective services, medical providers, therapeutic professionals, victim support professionals, and the district attorney’s office.
The team works together to review each case and establishes an effective approach for the child abuse investigation and prosecution, and service provision to families and individuals affected by child abuse.
Another advantage of the new CAC Pulaski site is its proximity to the NYS Troopers’ Barracks.
“As our law enforcement agencies play a major role in our cases, it is a real benefit to the children and families we serve to have them nearby and readily accessible,” said Damm.
Funding for CAC’s Pulaski office was made possible by a development and expansion grant through the National Children’s Alliance Program.
“We were fortunate to find a location that would fit our needs and new staff members, victim advocate Nicole Raymond and mental health counselor Melissa Baker. They are happy to be at our new Pulaski office and are eager to assist the children and families that we serve,” said Damm.
The CAC will host a public open house at its Pulaski office on June 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
