Children Head to Sheriff’s Summer Camp

Children between the ages of nine and twelve from throughout Oswego County are shown preparing to board a bus on Sunday, 7/10/11, to begin an adventure at the 35th Annual New York State Sheriffs’ Association Institute’s Summer Camp located at Camp Iroquois in Penn Yan, New York. Oswego County Undersheriff Eugene F. Sullivan, III (left) was on hand to see the campers off along with Deputy Robert Ramsey, President of the Oswego County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association. Deputy Ramsey presented each camper with a T-shirt donated by the Deputies’ Association. While at Camp Iroquois the youngsters will spend a week filled with fun activities, including drug-prevention presentations, boat and bike safety programs, law enforcement equipment and technical demonstrations, and pistol and archery competitions, activities that will afford them a better understanding of the men and women who enforce laws. Twenty-one children from Oswego County were selected to attend camp this year. They include: Amanda and Terry Belden, Jacob Friot, Colten Hardy, Hannah Revoir, and Gregory Skilinski, (Village of Pulaski), Travis Benjamin (Village of Sandy Creek), Casey Christian, Christina Dobson, Dyerin and Joshua Gareau, Andrea and Cerenity Geer, Morgan Leach, Joshua Pool, and Sullivan Worns (Town of Richland), Trace Clark and Aaron Farmer, (Town of Sandy Creek), William Henry, Jr., (Town of Orwell), Cody Phillips (Town of Boylston), and Cheyenne White (Town of Hannibal).
