CiTi construction technology students helped ARISE tear down a ramp for reuse recently.
The students have been involved in multiple facets of the Ramp Program, previously helping to build sections for new ramps.
The tear-down process involves ramps that are no longer in use and can be recycled for utilization elsewhere.
Last year, ARISE built 31 ramps and took down six.
This particular ramp had assisted an elderly woman getting in and out of her home until she recently passed away. ARISE will recycle the pieces and re-assemble the sections at another home in need.
The Oswego County Ramp Program has impacted the lives of many individuals returning home after rehabilitation, upholding the sense of freedom in being able to get out of the house and being a part of a community.
The CiTi students not only gained real-life experience from this collaboration, but they also felt the satisfaction of being a part of something greater and helping others in their community.
