CiTi holds annual CTE awards ceremony

MEXICO – The Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation recently held its annual Career and Technical Education awards ceremony to recognize student achievement and honor academic excellence.

During separate ceremonies for the morning and afternoon sessions, students from each CTE program were recognized for their achievements throughout the school year, including National Technical Honor Society status, industry credential milestones, perfect attendance and principal awards.

Multiple scholarships were also presented to students, including the William Boney Scholarship, the John A. Hort Scholarship, the Dr. Burton Ramer Scholarship, the Dylan R. Blair Automotive Wrenching Scholarship, the Joshua & Jonathan Green Auto Tech Scholarship, the Spike Nolan Scholarship and the Oswego County School Facilities Association Scholarship.

The ceremony also introduced the first Spike Nolan Making a Difference Award, which was created in memory of former CiTi instructor Floyd “Spike Nolan, who taught small engine repair for more than 20 years.

The scholarship was established to help improve the opportunities of two CiTi students with strong entrepreneurial aspirations and plans for secondary education or self-improvement.

The award was presented to cosmetology student Antoinette Lanning, of Hannibal Central School District, and auto body repair student Chynia Cummins, of Mexico Academy and Central School District.
