CiTi’s Exceptional Education and Alternative Education students recently presented their project-based learning activity to teachers and guests who applauded their dedication and creativity.

Teacher Darlene Ochsner said the academic project was a huge feat for students who selected their favorite historical figure, researched the person, constructed props and display boards and wrote note cards of important facts about the individual.

Beyond the academic achievement was the students’ development and use of social skills to facilitate communication between themselves and living wax museum attendees.

Student Ian King, dressed in Ancient Egyptian attire, excitedly recited information about King Tutankhamen, including how he became king at the age of seven – the same age as King himself.

A smiling Ruby Bridges, portrayed by student Elizabeth Rowlands, shared her civil rights activism story, while a serious Samuel Adams, portrayed by Logan Fitzgerald, offered his involvement in organizing the Boston Tea Party.

Each participant remained in character throughout the living wax museum event and were commended by teachers and guests for their efforts.
