CiTi Vocational Enrichment Program Students Sell Handmade Ceramics

MEXICO – Every month, students in the Vocational Enrichment Program at CiTi sell their handmade ceramics on the SUNY Oswego campus.

The students are involved in every step of the process from pouring the mold to smoothing, firing and then glazing the end product in the ceramics lab.

The task instills creativity, helps the students learn a skill and also allows the students to practice customer service skills.

The Vocational Enrichment Program through CiTi emphasizes career and hands-on skills for Exceptional Education students. Students enrolled are involved in various work study jobs through the SUNY Oswego campus and other work sites in the Oswego and Fulton communities.

Teachers Lisa Carney and Mary Throne pointed out that work attributes such as attendance, appearance, attitude and ability are skills that every student strives to attain through the Vocational Enrichment Program. In addition to ceramics, students have also gained knowledge of photography, construction and refinishing this year.
