FULTON, NY – Coordinator of Catholic Charities of Oswego County’s CYO Mentoring Program, Ken Dennison, predicts that it will soon be ‘Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs’ as the program invites area youth to attend a spring break ‘movie matinee.’
On April 21 the program, in conjunction with the Kinship Support Program, will host its second ‘movie matinee.’
This event will feature the showing of the movie, “Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs.”
It will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. at the CYO at Catholic Charities, 365 W. First St.
“We are happy to be able to partner with our Kinship Support Program and provide youth with a fun afternoon during their spring break,†said Dennison. “We held our first movie matinee last month and received such positive feedback that we thought we would hold a second one this month. The movie matinee is free of charge and is open to the first 50 youth ages 5 through 12. It’s a nice opportunity for families to enjoy a movie with their children. No movie event would be complete without refreshments so we will be offering popcorn and drinks. There is no cost to attend and supervision is provided in the event that parents are unable to attend with their children.â€
Catholic Charities’ Kinship Program provides support to kinship caregivers; people who, through a variety of circumstances, have taken on the responsibility of raising their relative’s children.
The program provides the family with emotional support, recreational opportunities, and advocacy.
The CYO Mentoring Program is a school based mentoring program that matches elementary school children with high school students and provides them with peer support and a positive role model.
Mentors provide friendship, guidance, and support through one on one time and group activities.
The CYO program, funded in part by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services through the Oswego City / County Youth Bureau, offers youth has designed a variety of activities to aid in the recreational development of youth in Fulton, as well as the surrounding communities of Oswego County.
All activities are free of charge and are supervised by a trained staff.
