Dorothy Fresch: Hannibal’s 2011 Woman Of The Year

HANNIBAL, NY – Dorothy Fresch, a life time member of the Hannibal Community, was recently honored with the 2011 Hannibal Woman of the Year Award.

Barry D. Leeman, chairman of the Oswego County Legislature and Terry M. Wilbur, legislator of District 21 presented Mrs. Fresch with a certificate of recognition. She also received a plaque from the Hannibal Free Library, sponsor of the Woman of the Year Award.

Mrs. Fresch exemplifies true community spirit and dedication.

She was a teacher for 30 years, including teaching grades 1-8 in a one-room school house.

She is a charter member of the Hannibal Historical Society and is an active member of the Hannibal United Methodist Church, the Village Cemetery Board and the local Senior Citizens.

She enjoys spending time with friends at the Senior Nutrition Site.

Sharing her love of community, Dorothy and her family opened their hearts and home to several foreign exchange students over the years. She corresponds with several of them to this day.

As stated in her certificate of recognition, “Mrs. Doroty Fresch distinguishes herself not only as a leader in our community, but also as a remarkable citizen who has helped to educate our families, celebrate our community and has inspired her many friends and colleagues with the courage and proud dedication that she lives out each day.”
