OSWEGO, NY – If your child with special needs has behaviors in the classroom and has been removed multiple times for those behaviors, he/she should have an FBA/BIP plan in place.

Parents of Special Children will present two webinars entitled Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) on Sept. 18, and Behavioral Intervention Planning: Beyond Legal Mandates on Oct. 9.

Both workshops will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at the PSC office at 2 C Tower Drive, Fulton.

The Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) goal is to identify problem behaviors and the reasons they occur.

The webinar program will address the FBA process; including definitions, legal requirements and assessment procedures.

The webinar key speaker is Carl Liaupsin from the University of Arizona.

Behavioral Intervention Planning: Beyond Legal Mandates is an overview of the key components in a Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) using the positive behavior support problem solving process (PBS).

The BIP develops strategies to reduce or remove problem behaviors and are included in the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

The webinar presenter is Sharon Lohrmann, Ph.D.

A light dinner will be served.
