Local residents are invited to come out to enjoy the free community concert at West Linear Park in Oswego.

The concert is organized and presented by Oswego Industries and Arc of Oswego County, two local nonprofit agencies that focus on improving the quality of life for all people, with the primary emphasis on those with disabilities.

The band has been featured on “Good Morning America” as well as “The Today Show.”

FLAME has traveled the world in order to spread their message and help change how the public perceives people with disabilities and increase the awareness and acceptance of all people.

This event also marks the end of the Arc of Oswego County Membership Drive, but donations are will still be accepted at the concert event and through September 20.

The FLAME concert also is an opportunity to recognize National Direct Support Professionals Recognition Week, which is September 11-17.

This celebratory week gives both agencies an opportunity to honor the work of Direct Support Professionals who provide essential services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our community.

These services include Group Day and Community Habilitation, Medicaid Coordination, prevocational training, Pathways to Employment, Supported Employment, behavioral services, Hourly Waiver Respite, camp experiences, and family education, training and support services.
