Fulton High School Students Accepted To Syracuse Youth Wind Symphony

FULTON – The Fulton City School District is pleased to recognize the efforts and talents of three students from G. Ray Bodley High School for their recent acceptance into the Syracuse Youth Wind Symphony.

Freshman Annie Quirk on Clarinet, junior Joseph Cortini on Clarinet and senior Braden Frost on trumpet were recently accepted into the prestigious organization, which serves as the premiere wind symphony for students in and around the Syracuse area. The trio auditioned for the group in the fall, hoping to be welcomed into the inaugural year of the program.

The Syracuse Youth Wind Symphony features exemplary woodwind, brass, and percussion student musicians from high schools across Central New York. The new program is spearheaded by Ms. Erin Althen Tapia of Westhill High School and Mr. Greg Borsz of West Genesee High School and promises to “perform a transformative and diverse repertoire of Wind Band music within an ensemble culture that embodies and celebrates connection, collaboration, belonging, musician-leadership, joy, and excellence in music-making.” Accepted students will participate in the program throughout the remainder of the school year.

“I am extremely proud that these students took the time to audition for and play in the Syracuse Youth Wind Symphony,” said Luigi Giacomucci, Band Director at GRB. “What Erin Althen and Greg Borsz have started is something I wish I had grown up with. It’s an amazing experience and I am super excited to see what this ensemble has in store.”
