FULTON – As part of an ongoing effort to build a strong STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math) curriculum at the Fulton Junior High School, students recently explored job opportunities in these different fields.
Students completed employability profiles and attended sessions with professionals who matched their career interests.
Eight local employers were on hand to discuss different job opportunities and traits that they look for during the hiring process.
Guest speakers included personnel from Menter Ambulance, the Department of Environmental Conservation, Uniforms Etc., Maverik Lacrosse, WCNY Broadcasting, Treat Me Sweet, the US Army, and Personal Best Fitness.
“This career day is a great opportunity for our students to begin looking at their future,” said FJHS Principal Ryan Lanigan. “We have a wide range of job fields represented, and the students are gaining valuable insight into these different career paths.”
In each session, students learned about every aspect of the career; from job responsibilities to salary.
Students also had an opportunity to explore different tools of the trade.
Teachers noted they were pleased with the questions that students asked and said they expected students would reap the rewards as they begin to prepare for the future.
