The Fulton Police Department Bicycle Patrol Unit, in conjunction with the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Council, held its annual bicycle rodeo on Saturday June 5th.
Several hundred youth attended the event, which is aimed at teaching youth about safe bicycle riding skills and practices. During the fun-filled event, children were treated to air hop rides, hot dogs, donut holes, and other prizes.
In addition, Fulton Police gave out over 100 helmets, courtesy of the Governor’s Traffic Safety Council and the Fulton Police Benevolent Association. Four brand new bicycles were raffled off, courtesy of Dunkin Donuts.
Additional participating groups included Oswego Health, the City of Fulton, the Oswego County Child Advocacy Center, Fulton Rotary Club, the Oswego County Sheriffs Department, the Oswego County Health Department, the Oswego County Traffic Safety Board, Fulton City School District, Doyle’s Bike Shop, and Menter’s Ambulance Co.
The Fulton Police Department is committed to traffic safety, to include bicycle safety, as well as to the youth of the community. Any child in need of a bicycle helmet may stop in to the Fulton Police Department to be fitted for a new helmet free of charge.
