Fulton Schools Team Up For Videoconference Fun

FULTON – Students from Granby Elementary School and Fulton Junior High School recently worked through a monster of a lesson together.

Third graders from Karen Murdoch’s class at Granby joined students from Shannon Turley’s English as a Second Language class at the junior high school to utilize writing, reading and collaboration skills to plan and construct shoe-box monsters.

The two Fulton City School District schools were paired together for Monster Match Collaboration 2016, an interactive videoconference project facilitated by New York State Distance Learning Consortium members.

Both of the Fulton classes built a monster out of shoe-boxes and craft supplies.

Students then wrote a how-to paragraph for students in the other class to follow and then replicate their monster.

The event culminated with a final videoconference where the classes compared similarities and differences in all monsters created.

The videoconference connection was made possible, thanks to efforts of the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation.
