Head Start Preschool Is Enrolling For September 2010

OSWEGO, NY – Head Start Preschool is taking applications for September 2010 enrollment.

The program enrolls children who will be three or four years old on or before Dec. 1.

Head Start’s primary goal is promoting kindergarten readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through hands-on experiences.

Classes are taught by teachers with degrees and experience in early childhood education.

Additional center staff includes family advocates, teaching assistants, classroom aides, cooks, and nurses.

The program provides meals and snacks, encourages parent involvement, and provides family support.

With centers throughout the county, children living in all school districts of Oswego County may apply for Head Start.

Families who would like to be considered for initial class placement are encouraged to apply early.

Waiting lists are maintained for openings that may occur throughout the school year.

Head Start Preschool is provided at no cost and is available to families with incomes at or below federally set guidelines.

Head Start is the longest running national school-readiness program in the United States.

Since 1999, more than 4,400 children have been students of Head Start Preschool in Oswego County.
