“Hello, Dolly!” seniors say goodbye to GRB stage

For seniors in the Quirk’s Players production of “Hello, Dolly!” on March 7, 8 and 9, at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, the musical also signals a bittersweet goodbye.

The show marks a farewell to the high school stage for those graduating, but they wouldn’t trade their experiences onstage for anything.

For some, their history in the Quirk’s Players goes back as far as elementary school when several of the players were cast as orphans in the production of “Annie” when they were only in fourth grade.

“This is the last of the orphans,” said Tom Briggs, director of show, “But the good news is that there are several young parts in ‘Dolly,’ ensuring a new wave of future ‘Quirks.’”

For one, foreign exchange student Yann Taddei, this is his first and last show.

“I wish I was born around here,” Taddei said, “I feel like I missed so much. The more I work in the arts, the more I like it.”

“We’re very proud of all our seniors,” said Briggs, “They are a dedicated group. We will miss them greatly next year.”

The show will have performances at 7:30 p.m. on March 7, 8 and 9, with an afternoon matinee on March 9 at 2 p.m.

Tickets will be $8 for adults and $7 for senior citizens and children 12 and under.
