OSWEGO – We need the public to help us name the tugboat in the Children’s Room at the Oswego Public Library.
We are voting on the name.
The four choices are S.S. James Fenimore Cooper, S.S. Alvin Bronson, S.S. Virginia Dean and S. S. Gerrit Smith.
Each name selection has a place in the history of the library.
Explanations on each selection are on the website or at the ballot boxes in the library.
Voting will take place now through October in the library and on the website oswegopubliclibrary.org.
Following the election results, a piñata christening of the tugboat will take place.
Stay posted for the date of the christening.
Please come and vote.

Although Gerrit Smith never wanted the BUILDING named for him, I think he’d allowed the tug to be named in his honor!
