Lanigan Students Celebrated For Showcasing Honesty

Students at Lanigan Elementary School were recently honored during an assembly for exemplifying honesty throughout the month of February.

One student from each class throughout the school was chosen by their teachers to receive special recognition during the ceremony for showcasing honesty.

“Honesty is a character trait that a lot of the other traits are built upon. Honesty goes a long way,” said Principal Jeff Hendrickson. “If you’re honest with yourself and honest with others, you really have the opportunity to grow and be better.”

Hendrickson also commended students who always tell the truth, regardless of the circumstance.

“It’s not about telling the truth when it’s easy, it’s about telling the truth when it’s hard,” he said. “It’s about telling the truth even if you know you may have a consequence for it. That goes a long way.”

The following students were recognized with character award certificates during the ceremony:

Sam May, Joseph Gray, Kyra Baker, JaQuan Barber (sixth grade); Emma Green, Ashton Gates, Jacob Tanner (fifth grade); Nick Gartner, Joey Blair, Connor House, Gracie Dempsey, Shiden Rowe (fourth grade); Gavin Doty, Bella Cowart, Rylee Bartlett (third grade); Daniel Schremp, Andrew Mainville, Jordan Thurlow, Avery Farfaglia (second grade); Ada Dumouche, Tyler Geossl, Kayden McIntyre (first grade); Lana Champion, Riley Thurlow and Ella Deane (kindergarten).

At the conclusion of the assembly, Hendrickson announced that the character trait students are asked to exemplify throughout the month of March is perseverance.

To showcase what it takes to persevere, and in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, students Meghan Galvin, Cali Shaw and Claire Broderick performed Irish Step Dancing, something they worked hard to perfect.
