Actors ranging from 6 – 18 rehearse three or four times a week learning music, choreography, character development and blocking.

The show is prepped to be the biggest production produced by CNY Arts Center to date.

With this dynamic group of 30 children are a team of adult professional actors, directors and musicians working with the cast and crew to bring this show to life.

Returning after his smash hit of Oliver in November 2015, Adam Schmidtmann is back in the director’s seat with Gina Holsopple, national award-winning musician and songwriter, returning to CNY Arts Center as musical director.

Working with the cast on choreography and all things dance related is Jessie Dobrzynski, a new member of the CNY Arts Center production team and relatively new to CNY Arts Center having first graced the CNY Arts Center stage in Oliver, playing Widow Corney and the rose seller.

Dobrzynski is not a stranger to the stage or to dance.

She has been involved in multiple productions across CNY including Appleseed Productions of Tom Sawyer, Baldwinsville Theatre Guild’s Jekyll & Hyde and Young Frankenstein, CNY Playhouse’s productions of Catch Me If You Can (and was a SALT nominee for Choreographer of the Year), Wild Party and Aida.

Jessie Dobrzynski, here as the Rose Seller with Rueby Holsopple as Oliver in the recent production at CNY Arts Center, is the newest choreographer at the Arts Center.

“I am very honored to have been asked to join the CNY Arts Center Theatre Committee.  I have never worked with a group of people, both in cast/crew and production team, that genuinely care so much about why they are here and what they are doing,” said Dobrzynski. “They are so supportive and encouraging that it makes you really want to try new things and to be a bigger part of what they offer.”

She began dancing at 3 years old with traditional ballet, tap and jazz at a private studio.

In high school, she was a member of her school’s dance team and in two musicals with the school drama department.  As a member of the Terpsichorean Dance Company in college, she trained in Hip Hop, ballroom, African and Irish Step.

She has taught dance and Zumba for years.

In 2012, she moved to Syracuse to pursue a career in graphic design and advertising.

She began working in the creative department of The Redhouse Theatre doing graphic design, photography, social media, writing, website design, and videography.

Recently, she has moved on to doing similar work outside the world of theatre, working with advertising agencies, universities, entrepreneurs, and dance studios.  She still can be found doing freelance graphic design, writing and photography work.
