VOLNEY – Update on the restoration of the 100-year-old wrought iron fence that has stood across the front of the North Volney Cemetery is nearing completion.

Documentation of the wrought iron fence shows that on “July 28, 1914, an order of 171 1/2 feet of #157 fence 42 inches high complete with 2 gates and 2 #2 arches for $210.00” was replied.
This is in the office of the Volney historian.
On September 16, Brandon Coe and John Parrish dug 21 holes for the fence posts.
All volunteers and workers will gather at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, the 20th, to help set the fence posts, fence and pour concrete.

The work will continue on September 23 at 9 a.m.
