FULTON, NY – Rev. Moritz Fuchs and Hon. Spencer Ludington will be the guest speakers for a special military history focused program on Wednesday, June 25 at 7 p.m. at the Pratt House Museum, 177 South First Street, Fulton.Father Fuchs will speak on his experience as the chief bodyguard and protector for the Honorable Robert H. Jackson, native of Jamestown, NY, and justice for the Nuremberg Trials during World War II.
After graduating from Fulton High School in 1942, Father Fuchs was drafted for the U.S. Army in 1943. Following his training in Fort Benning, Louisiana, he served in the First Infantry Division, 26th Regiment, and 3rd Battalion during World War II in Europe. In the summer of 1945 he was given a “special assignment” to “protect from any initiative taken against Jackson” and remained his bodyguard for the duration of the trials.
Ludington, City of Fulton court judge, will speak on the history of veterans from World War I to the current war in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The program is presented in collaboration with the current exhibit, “With Honor & Glory: Military History, 1754 – 2008”, on view through November 12th. The entire community is invited to attend.
