OCO Bowl-A-Fun A Success

FULTON, NY – More than 200 community members and OCO employees came together for an afternoon of fun and bowling during OCO’s ninth annual Bowl-A-Fun.

Held April 10 at Lakeview Lanes in Fulton, the event served as a fundraiser to help support the many human services programs that Oswego County Opportunities provides for the residents of Oswego County.

This year’s event was hosted by radio personality Rich Lauber of B104.7.

Tim Frawley and Angela Renna, of AXA Advisors were the honorary co-chairs for the event.

“The Bowl-A-Fun was truly a fun-filled afternoon,” said Renna. “We are so grateful for the tremendous support we’re seeing from the event sponsors, B104.7 and the students of SUNY Oswego, the lane sponsors and donors, and all of the members of the community who participated this year.”

The event culminated with the drawing of the agency’s Golden Opportunities raffle.

Prizes ranged from $153 – $3,070 and were awarded to Linda Stevens, Carol Messore, Peg Scheffler, Marjorie Vautrin, Carol Dodge, Craig Lockwood, and grand prize winner David Finch.

“Funds from this year’s Bowl-A-Fun will help boost the agency’s general fund, which provides financial support as needed to the many programs that OCO offers,” explained planning committee member Christine Prevost.

Proceeds from the Golden Opportunities raffle will be invested in an endowment for the agency.

OCO provided crisis intervention, food, clothing, emergency shelter, housing, health care, job training, education, transportation and family support services to more than 24,000 people within Oswego County.

Funds raised through the Bowl-A-Fun will help:

  • Feed a homebound senior who might not otherwise eat.
  • Provide emergency shelter and protection from violence for a mother and her children.
  • Provide a cancer screening for a person who can’t afford routine exams.
  • House a homeless family or young person.
  • Provide diapers, formula and healthy food to a mom and her baby.

OCO is a private, non-profit agency that has been supporting communities throughout Oswego County since 1966 and touches the lives of more than 20,000 people annually.

It is a United Way of Greater Oswego County member agency and offers a variety of services, including – Senior Services, Transportation, Mental Hygiene, Health, Youth, Services to Aid Families, and Children’s.
