OCO Food Giveaway Aids Hundreds

FULTON — As part of its efforts to assist families struggling with rising costs, Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) recently held a Community Food and Resources Giveaway at the Fulton War Memorial. The event provided food and toilet paper to nearly 200 households, helping hundreds of individuals meet immediate needs. Boxes included shelf-stable foods, fresh foods, and baby formula, all distributed free of charge.

“We are happy to be able to host this giveaway,” said OCO Executive Administrative Manager Shelby Fowler. “We are grateful for the generosity of our community partners, whose support made it possible to provide much-needed food and assistance.”

The event was made possible through partnerships with the Food Bank of Central New York, Fulton Price Chopper, Fulton Save A Lot, the Fulton Parks and Recreation Department, Amazon, and Oswego County Federal Credit Union.

The giveaway was supported by the dedication of volunteers and OCO employees, who helped coordinate, set up, unload, organize, and distribute more than 8,000 pounds of food. In addition to food and household items, OCO staff shared information about available programs and services, including PATH (Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness), Prevention Services, OPTIONS, Human Resources, Care Point, Education Services, and the Pulaski Family Welcome Center. The event also included support from the Food Bank of CNY SNAP Outreach team.
