Ole Fashion Day Tradition Continues At Fairley Elementary

Fourth graders from Fairley Elementary School recently wrapped up a lesson on Colonial America by immersing themselves in the era as they took a step back in time during Ole Fashion Day.

The decades-long tradition provided students with an opportunity to explore life as it was more than 200 years ago.

Dressed in period costumes, students began the day with a square dance in the gymnasium before returning to their classrooms for other activities.

In the classroom, students learned from a one-room school house, writing sentences on chalkboards and pretending to gather firewood to keep the room heated.

In the woodworking room, students spent some time as carpenters before having the chance to relax with a cup of tea or play some games.

For students, the authentic learning experience was a great way to reinforce the things they learned in the classroom.
