Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County was hopping last week as 14 youth and many volunteers filled the office for the annual Learn to Sew program, led by 4-H educator Mary Matteson.

Youth, ages eight to 19, visited for three days, and through games and practice learned the basics of sewing, by both hand and machine.
Many experienced sewing volunteers were on hand to support the youth as they worked on developing the life-long skill of sewing.
Participants went home with three completed projects demonstrating their newly acquired skills: a potholder, a table runner, and a pillow case.
