OSWEGO – Oswego Health’s volunteers and Auxiliary members were honored during a special luncheon held during National Healthcare Volunteer Week at Springside at Seneca Hill.
Oswego Health President and CEO Michael Harlovic told more than 60 volunteers and auxilians that their donated time and talents to the health system were invaluable. During the past year, they dedicated as group more than 10,000 hours to complete some 10,000 tasks.
The volunteers offer assistance at Oswego Hospital, The Manor at Seneca Hill and the Fulton Medical Center.
Those duties include patient transports, delivering the interoffice mail, assisting departments with special tasks and helping visitors. This year, the volunteers increased the number of departments served and expanded its after school and weekend volunteer opportunities.
Honored with donating the most hours at Oswego Hospital were Maurice ‘Mo” Laws, with 1,800 hours, up from 1,700 last year; and Cheryl Joyce, with 750 hours.
Recognized from The Manor for donating 774 hours was Lisa Backus, who has been a volunteer for 31 years.
The Manor also recognized two other volunteers, Ray Grela, 573 hours and Ed Salvetti, 526 hours.
In addition, Donna VanGorder was honored for her ten years of service.
