Oswego Mayor Robert Corradino Speaks to Rotarians

Mayor Robert Corradino and Sabine Ingerson, President Oswego Rotary Club

The speaker at the June 23 meeting of the Oswego Rotary Club was Oswego Mayor Robert Corradino. He highlighted the successes of the past ten years, what’s happening now and plans for the future.
Among these successes is the creation of the Cahill Pier. Not only has this improved the ability for people to take advantage of and enjoy the city’s beautiful lakefront but was instrumental in attracting American Cruise Lines to come to Oswego this year. Mayor Corradino shared that the cruise line has agreed to stop in Oswego for the next ten years. Other highlights included the designation of the NOAA Lake Ontario Marine Sanctuary, the New Interactive Playground for Children 7 and Under at Rotary Park, the conversion of over 3,000 streetlights to high-efficiency LED lighting city-wide, paving an average of over $850,000 of city streets a year, the purchase of a new City of Oswego stage, receiving a grant to replace the Ellen Street water tank and the West First Street improvement project.
Mayor Corradino also shared plans for the future and on-going projects. One is completing the process that will have Safe Haven become part of the National Park system. Another one addresses the popularity of pickle ball. Oswego was awarded nearly $180,000 in grant funds for a new pickle ball court.
