Piano Students Recognized For NYSSMA Solo-Fest

OSWEGO, NY – Several student pianists under the instruction of Patty Griffin were recently recognized for their participation in the New York State School Music Association Solo-Fest that took place in May at the Fulton Junior High School.

NYSSMA is a professional organization that evaluates student musicians in New York State.

Students register with their school music program and instructor to attend the festivals throughout New York State where they are adjudicated.

At the festival, each of Griffin’s students performed scales, a solo piece of their choice from a designated NYSSMA repertoire and a sight reading piece.

Judges scored and commented on the students’ performances according to defined guidelines set by NYSSMA.

The grade sheets are then certified and sent to instructors.
