OSWEGO, NY – Adirondack book publisher, photographer, historian and outdoorsman Roy Reehil will share his love of Adirondack heritage with members of the Professional Journalists and Communicators of Oswego County May 25 at Canale’s restaurant.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. and all are welcome to attend.
Reehil founded The Forager Press, LLC, an independent book and internet publishing company, in 2003.
He operates the business, which focuses on Adirondack history and outdoor related topics, out of his family’s home in the village of Cleveland on the north shore of Oneida Lake.
Relying on original photographs, interviews, wilderness trips, and other primary sources of information, Reehil has researched many of the self-sufficient and independent individuals that lived in the Adirondacks.
He and William O’Hern of Camden co-authored “Under An Adirondack Influence – The Life of A. L. Byron-Curtiss, 1871-1959.”
Reehil edited and published several other O’Hern titles, including “Noah John Rondeau’s Adirondack Wilderness Days: A Year with the Hermit of Cold River Flow,” and “Adirondack Characters and Campfire Yarns: Early Settlers and their Traditions.”
He also publishes books by other authors on topics such as foraging for edible wild mushrooms.
Reehil’s love of the Adirondacks is also reflected in his websites, Adirondack-history.com, Ediblewildmushrooms.com, Frenchlouie.com and Adirondack-books.com
His sites carry a “family friendly” guarantee stating they are safe for adults and children to browse “without worry or embarrassment.”
He is the former mayor of the village of Cleveland.
