This Mother’s Day, May 8, come to the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center for a meet and greet with the ephemeral “little people” of the forest floor.
Enjoy a Mother’s Day Wildflower Wander at 2 p.m. along the center’s trails with naturalist Pat Carney.
Spring wildflowers are blooming and we’ll stroll along exploring Wake-robin, Cowslip, Goldthread, and others whose common names can be as colorful as their blossoms.
Following the program, enjoy tea, cookies, and good company.
So, bring your favorite mother and celebrate the day.
A slide presentation will be offered if it rains.
On May 22 at 2 p.m., come Meet the Web Feet.
The spring skies and water echo with noise and activity as ducks, geese, herons and other birds return to their natal ponds to court and raise their young.
Participants will enjoy a slide presentation on ducks and other water bird residents of the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center’s ponds.
Following the indoor program, participants will walk to the beaver pond, and perhaps see a Wood Duck or Merganser hen with ducklings or hear an American Bittern calling.
Binoculars are recommended.
The facility has a limited number available for use.
Each of these programs is just $4 fee per person, or $12 per family and children under the age of 3 are free.
The Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center is located at 748 State Route 183 in eastern Oswego County, between routes 13 and 69 near Williamstown.
