PULASKI – A group of dedicated students recently began chartering an Amnesty International chapter at Pulaski High School. One of the first endeavors of the group was to join Amnesty International’s annual “Write 4 Rights” campaign.

According to teacher Sandra McCullough, the campaign is run each year during the week before International Human Rights Day, and asks people from around the world to join in writing letters to help end 12 cases of urgent human rights abuses.
During the event, participants were asked to write letters to government officials around the world to urge them to free prisoners of conscience, end torture, halt executions, change policies or laws and compensate the injured and traumatized.
Students also wrote letters of solidarity to share with the victims of abuse.
“The best part is that it’s bringing everyone together,” said student Kelly Bushell. “I didn’t think there would be such a large reception from such a small community.”
