OSWEGO, NY – The Heritage Foundation of Oswego will hosts its annual meeting on July 30 at 7 p.m. in the new community room in the lower level of the restored Oswego S.D. Public Library, 120 E. Second St.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Heritage Foundation of Oswego County is a non-profit volunteer organization with a mission to protect, promote and preserve the historic, architectural and environmental resources of Oswego County.

The annual meeting held each year selects a topic relevant to the area’s historic landscape.

“This year the Heritage Foundation believed the Oswego Public Library was the ideal place to hold the annual meeting. The commitment of the library board, staff and the greater Oswego community, to preserve this amazing landmark has been incredible,” said Justin White, president of the organization. “We truly believe that this project will serve as a model for the preservation of other historic properties across the state.”

Members of the library board will give a presentation describing the journey of the rehabilitation and restoration of the historic library building and will discuss the expansion of space and services.

The board will explain the development process from its beginning stages in 2000 through the reopening of the facility last month.

Following a question and discussion period, there will be group tours given of the facility.

“The library has reached a truly remarkable milestone when it celebrated the opening of the building 150 years ago,” said White. “Now the library will continue to be enjoyed and treasured for generations to come.”
