Senior Band Concert Entertains Crowd at Bodley

FULTON – The G. Ray Bodley High School auditorium was abuzz with activity recently as student musicians performed in the senior finale concert.

Nearly 50 students entertained an audience of friends, family and Fulton City School District personnel during the multifaceted concert, which featured singing, jazz tunes and classical music.

The jazz musicians kicked off things with “Uptown Funk,” “Feeling Good,” and “Birdland.”

With the upbeat tone set for the evening, the concert band took the stage, followed by the wind ensemble’s crowd-pleasing performance.

Although the evening was a celebration of students’ musical talents on the stage, conductor Terrance Caviness also recognized the musicians for their dedication behind the scenes.

He presented dozens of awards to students who were “most improved” or “most outstanding.”

Special trophies were presented to Emilio Garcia (Louis Armstrong Award); Amanda Deavers (John Philip Sousa Award); and Dominique Lockwood (Deanne Nield Award).

“We work for memorable moments,” Caviness said as he was presenting the awards. “These students have had so many of these moments, and these will carry with them forever.”
