Fairley Elementary students learned why breakfast is the most important meal of the day while they celebrated National School Breakfast week.
From March 4-8, Fairley students embraced the theme: “Start Your Engines with School Breakfast.”
They learned how to fuel up properly by eating a healthy meal to start the day.
As part of the week-long event, students were encouraged to create posters that aligned with the National School Breakfast Week theme.
Art teacher Chelsea Allen noted that the students tapped into their creativity as they made their posters.
At the end of the week, a panel of judges selected the winning submissions from each grade level.
The winners did an outstanding job with color, theme and presentation, according to the judges.
Grade-level winners included Emily Perrin (kindergarten); Jack Stoia (first grade); Destany Bryan (second grade); Alan Marchenko (third grade); and Trulee Faine (fourth grade). Several students also earned honorable mention, including Addison Holden, Kara Beckwith, Tenly Baker and Myla Manford.
In addition to the judge’s awards, all submissions were entered into a drawing for a new bicycle, donated by Pillsbury.
That prize went to second grader Zoey Cook.
