PHOENIX – Pollution, climate change, extraterrestrial life and other issues were in focus during the annual Earth Science Honors Symposium in Phoenix.
Thirty earth science honors students from John C. Birdlebough High School spent months researching various topics and developing hypotheses related to their area of study.
Their studies culminated with a public presentation of each project, complete with posters and an oral presentation.
“We wanted them to find something they loved about earth science and it explore it on their own,” said teacher Andrea Ackles. “They are passionate about their topics and it showed in their presentations. They did an excellent job.”
Teacher Paige Haney echoed Ackles’ sentiments and noted that the students gained valuable experience from the project.
“Our goal was to foster research and writing skills that can carry them on into their future academic pursuits,” Haney said. “I’m proud of them and the work they did.”
