Superhero day at Pulaski High School reaches impressive school spirit height

School spirit reached epic heights at Pulaski Senior High School when students demonstrated their school pride in a very unique way.

The students dressed as their favorite super hero on the first day of “spirit week” festivities.

Pulaski’s own Superhero League featured, in front: Jimmy Carnes as the Incredible Hulk. In back, left to right: Kyle Glenister as Batman, Callie Wilson as Batgirl, Lacey Sheeley Spidergirl, Breann Burnes and Taylor Hitchcock as Supergirl, and Tyler Hitchcock as Spiderman.

The week of spirit-building activities leads up to Homecoming and also includes other “themed” days including “twisted Tuesday” where students dress like teachers and teachers dress like students, “woodsy Wednesday” when students can embrace their inner “redneck” and dress in outdoor gear and red and blue day to show their school colors, and crimson and blue day for the finale and pep fest height.

The spirit week fun culminates in a pep rally on October 18.

Wall decorating, class Homecoming floats, and more will determine which class has the “most spirit” and will be awarded the coveted “spirit salmon” trophy and bragging rights for the remainder of the school year.

The spirit salmon trophy is a large red, white, and blue salmon taxidermy mount that has been awarded to the class with the most spirit for the past 10 years.

The winning group’s class president signs the frame and it is displayed for the coming year. A fitting trophy for the Pulaski District, with its world class salmon fishing, the trophy has inspired a friendly competition between classes.
