Tax Information Program Scheduled

OSWEGO, NY – Please join the local partners of VITA, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, in a promotion of the Earned Income Tax Credit, or EITC, Awareness Day on Jan. 29.

The program will start at 9:30 a.m. in the Hamilton Homes community room, 96 Hamilton St., the entrance across from Bosco’s.

Area banks and credit unions will be available for information on opening accounts.

Every penny counts in today’s economy, yet many working people are overlooking an important tax credit that could put up to $5,600 or more in their pockets.

The EITC can be the needed financial boost for working people hit by hard economic times.

Many people will qualify for EITC for the first time this year because their income declined, their marital status changed or they added children to their families.

Families with three or more children get an extra boost with a larger credit this year.

Plus you can get all of your tax refund back in your pocket in 10 days.

Anyone with income under $48,000 from wages, self-employment or farming in 2009, should see if they qualify.

Area residents can get free tax preparation supervised by a CPA and electronic filing at:
