Time For A Parade Nears In Fulton

FULTON, NY – The 34th annual Fulton Service Clubs’ Memorial Day Salute Parade is scheduled for May 23 at 10 a.m.

The parade theme this year is “Remember Those Who Served.”

The Memorial Day Salute Committee feels that our community has many heroes who are serving or have served in the present conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as veterans who have served their country over the years.

These men and women ask for nothing from their fellow American citizens, so it is time to honor them on this Memorial Day weekend. Therefore, this year‘s parade is in honor of all those who have served their country.

For the past 33 years, the four service clubs in Fulton, which are the Kiwanis, Lions, Sunrise Rotary and Rotary, have chosen to honor our heroes and veterans by featuring them in the annual parade.

Fulton’s Veteran of the Year for 2015 is John Young.

He will serve as grand marshal of this year’s parade.

The Fulton Memorial Day parade traditionally features children and bands.

Many children’s groups have already signed up for the parade this year.

There is always room for more groups, businesses, and individuals to be in the parade.

If you are a member of a group who wants to be in this year’s parade, it is still not too late to sign up.

Zach Menter is the parade chairman and his phone number is 591-4502.

Call him if you have questions about the parade, or wish to be in it.

The Memorial Day Salute Committee so far has 10 bands signed up for this year’s parade.

They are our own Fulton Marching Band along with The Central New York Police and Firemen’s Band, City of Syracuse Highland Pipe and Drums, Camden Fife & Drum Corps, Central Square Middle School Band, The Original Yanks Drum & Bugle Corp, Pembroke High School Marching Band and Naples High School Marching Band.

The very fun-loving Island Band is back as well.

New this year, Downbeat Percussion will be marching in the parade. They are the official drumline for the Buffalo Bills.

Several business and groups are working on floats to place in the parade.

Whether you are interested in planning a float, a marching group or want to show off an unusual vehicle, now is the time to act.

Your intentions should be made known soon.

Menter asks that you call him and he will send you a parade application form. missing or outdated ad config
