Trinity Catholic School Hosts Red Cross Pint-Size Hero Program

OSWEGO – Trinity Catholic students are kicking off their first Pint-Size Hero Program, May 4, through the American Red Cross.

Children K-6 recently received an educational presentation and materials from representative Rob Wasiel about the importance of giving blood.

The American Red Cross Pint-Size Hero Program offers an opportunity for elementary students to participate in hosting a Red Cross blood drive at their school.

It is designed for students to be involved in the blood drive by soliciting family members, friends or neighbors to give blood.

Sponsored by Trinity Catholic School’s Student Council, this fun community service project teaches students to be involved in a volunteerism activity and gain organizational and communication skills.

Wasiel noted that Oswego County, located within the New York-Penn Red Cross Region, has the highest number of registered blood drives.

He continued, however, that blood needs are currently at “urgent level.”

The need for blood continues to grow, due to an aging population and incredible advances in medical care that are saving more lives than ever before.

Help to ensure our community maintains a reliable blood inventory.

If you or someone you know would like contribute, please join Trinity Catholic’s Pint-Size Heroes on May 4 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the gym at Trinity Catholic School.
