FULTON – Sherri Metz and Beverly Murtha take the stage together in the upcoming Art Scene production of “Always A Bridesmaid. This time around they will be portraying southern best friends who have promised one another and their fellow girl friends to be in each other’s weddings. Thirty years later, southern belles are still making “the long walk” for each other. And this is where the fun begins in the Jones, Hope, Wooten comedy.

Sherri plays the part of Deedra Wingate, the dry witted, no-nonsense Northern transplant and Beverly takes on the role of Charlie Collins, the acerbic Southern free spirit. And for the next couple of hours, they along with two other  southern belles, take us on a hilarious journey of friendship and perseverance.

Beverly first took to the stage in community theater back in 2008.  She was asked to take on a small non-speaking role in the Oswego Players production of Father Knows Best.  That was the first one in a long run of shows over the past 16 years. Beverly has also shared the stage with her husband, Kevin and 2 daughters, Ashley and Megan with the Oswego Children’s Theater production of Flying Colors. She has been fortunate to join productions not only in Oswego, but with the CNY Arts Center in Fulton, and the Great Northern Artists Collaborative in Clay, NY.

Sherri has been on stage since high school. First with the Red Creek Community Players starring in “Annie Get your Gun”, “Mame” and “Once Upon a Mattress “. Then with the Oswego Players since 1988 enjoying many leading and supporting roles. This past decade she has taken the director’s chair in several comedies- the latest being “ A Comedy of Tenors” in 2023.

She lives in Oswego with her husband, Nelson, is a Branch Manager for Compass Credit Union and enjoys reading, scrabble, painting and her four grandchildren.

The stage lights up starting April 5th at 7:00 pm and runs through April 14th at the CNY Arts Center, 121 Cayuga Street, Fulton, NY. Tickets are available by calling the box office at 315-598-2787 or booking online at cnyartscenter.com. The play is presented through special arrangements with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.
