ONEONTA, NY — Miguel Vazquez of Oswego, NY, was one of 21 students inducted into SUNY Oneonta’s Beta Eta Chapter of the Chi Alpha Epsilon national honor society during a ceremony on Feb. 5.
Chi Alpha Epsilon was formed in 1989 at West Chester University in Pennsylvania to recognize the academic achievements of students admitted to colleges and universities through nontraditional criteria.
Its purposes are to promote continued high academic standards, to foster increased communication among its members, and to honor academic excellence achieved by those students admitted to college via developmental programs.
SUNY Oneonta’s Beta Eta Chapter members are full-time Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) students who have held a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for at least two consecutive semesters.
A graduate of Oswego High School, Vazquez is majoring in Philosophy at SUNY Oneonta.
