Vehicle Fire Strikes Oswego DPW Garage

OSWEGO, NY – A vehicle fire was reported Sunday inside the City of Oswego Department of Public Works Garage on Mitchell Street.

It resulted in extensive smoke damage to the building as well as several vehicles inside, according to Jeff McCrobie, fire chief.

The investigation is continuing.

The Oswego Fire Department responded to a fire on Sunday morning at the City DPW garage, 114 Mitchell St.

The call was received at 7:29 a.m. with units arriving 4 minutes later, encountering a heavy smoke condition.

The fire was under control within  minutes.

The probable cause appears to be wiring in a 1990 Oshcosh truck (color blue) owned by the city.
