Glass Art: Three Perspectives at the Salmon River Fine Art Center

PULASKI, NY – The public is invited to view the special art exhibition: “Glass Art: Three Perspectives” and to meet the artists at the opening reception Thursday, February 27th from, 5 – 7 pm.  The exhibit which features the art of local glass artists Heather Hennigan, Diane Melnik and Mary Price will be on display through March 29th. This colorful and unique exhibit showcases a variety of techniques and perspectives including glass fusing, traditional stained glass, mosaic, and kiln shaped glass.

Heather Hennigan is involved in both international as well as regional glass art groups and has traveled extensively in the USA, Canada and Europe to gain wide knowledge and techniques to use in her work. One of her favorite places and greatest sources of inspiration is along the shores of Lake Ontario.

Hennigan says, “My work aims to use the fluidity and beauty of glass to represent the imperfections and intricate ever-changing nature of life. Through my creations, I hope to evoke a sense of wonder and appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us.”

Also drawing inspiration from the shores of Lake Ontario, Mary Price, a fused glass artist, finds magic and joy in the many shaping techniques employed with changing temperatures.   Price says “My artwork embodies my passion for nature and the stunning beauty of Lake Ontario. I find joy in experimenting with glass and exploring various techniques to create diverse outcomes.”

Diane Melnik is a stained glass artist working with both traditional foiled stained glass pieces and intricate mosaics exploring new ways to blend color, texture, and light. Melnik says, “As a licensed optician for over 40 years, I have always been captivated by the miracle of light and color. That fascination led me to stained glass, where I could explore those elements in a hands-on, creative way.”

This show is a must see and will only be up for one month.  All are encouraged to attend the opening reception February 27th to explore art, engage in conversation with the artists and learn about the creative process for this unique art fine craft. The exhibit is free and may be viewed during gallery open hours: Thursdays and Fridays 11 am  – 4:30 pm and Saturdays 10 am – 3 pm.
