International Premiere of Saving Stuckism: A to Zed

Saturday, September 20, 2025 | 6–8 p.m. | SUNY Oswego, Marano Campus Center Auditorium

OSWEGO – The Marano Campus Center Auditorium at SUNY Oswego will host the
international premiere of Saving Stuckism: A to Zed on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 6–8
p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.
This new documentary chronicles American painter Ron Throop’s April 2025 journey to
Muswell Hill, North London, where he worked alongside international Stuckist artists, including
Edgeworth Johnstone, Emma Pugmire, Donald Guy, and movement co-founder Charles
Thomson.
While centered on the process of painting and collaboration, Saving Stuckism: A to Zed is also a
meditation on authenticity in art. The film explores the persistence of the Stuckist spirit—artists
who resist artifice and embrace sincerity—while raising critical questions about the future of
painting as a way of life.
Created collaboratively by artists rather than professional filmmakers, the documentary embodies
the movement’s spirit of independence. It is as much a work of art as a record of art-making,
situating itself within an alternative lineage of artistic history-making.
Audience members who remain until the final frame will be invited to take home original works
of art—a gesture consistent with the freedom of Stuckism and its resistance to commodification.
