OSWEGO – Katie Gerth and Trevor Griffiths have shared the Oswego Players’ stage before. As members of the Theater Arts Youth Academy (TAYA), they have also worked together in classes and workshops taught by Matt Fleming, Artistic Director.

But, who would have thought they would be sharing the screen in TAYA’s venture into virtual theater?

When the screen lights up, both Katie, who plays Commander Fillion, and Trevor, who takes on the role of Charlie, both inhabitants of the new Mars colony will share in the fun of Kathryn Funhhouser’s online stay at home comedy play.

Norm Berlin, Director of the show asked each of his actor’s to write a brief bio and take a selfie for publicity He had no idea what he would get in response. You read about the Fowler brothers a while back, well take a peek at Katie and Trevor’s contributions.

Katie Gerth

Hi, my name is Katie Gerth, I am 17 years old and this is my 6th show with Oswego Players. Before joining the Oswego Players, I was in my sibling’s shadow, now I have found a place where I belong, but more importantly I have found a place where I can be myself. I have found another family. Through the pandemic, the only thing that I could think about was going back and doing more plays. In the virtual play, “Do You Read Me?” I am Commander Fillion, an astronaut in the Mars colony. This play is short and fun and also a way to be with my friends and to preform again.

Trevor Griffiths

Trevor Timothy Griffiths is 11 but only in years. He’s a proud participant of previous Oswego Player productions and is very excited to be in this play. Trevor likes nature, as long as it doesn’t include tarantulas, puppies, poison ivy or mosquitoes. He loves reading books, especially the kind made of paper. Trevor enthusiastically enjoys acting, figure skating and learning but, not acting on figure skates. In summary, Trevor has a big heart and he highly misses giving hugs in this pandemic

These two talented actors are really excited about their show opening to the public October 16,17,18, 23,24, 25. Tickets are available now by logging onto: oswegoplayers.org And Katie and Trevor want to thank the Garrett Dunsmoor Memorial Foundation for awarding the Theater Arts Youth Academy (TAYA) a wonderful grant to be able to put on their play.
