Fatal Accident in The Village of Central Square.

OSWEGO COUNTY – June 27th, 2026, at around 6:45 PM, members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to an accident at the intersection of East Ave (State Route 49) and Gertrude Drive in the Village of Central Square.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2016 Ram 2500 pickup truck was traveling eastbound on East Ave when the enclosed trailer it was towing became detached from the truck and struck a pedestrian who was traveling westbound on East Ave and crossing the intersection with Gertrude Drive.  The pedestrian, identified as Alice Visneau, was on a motorized mobility sooter when she was struck.  Alice was transported to Upstate Hospital where she was pronounced dead.  She was 62 years old and a resident of Central Square.  The pickup truck was being operated for Big Kahuna Rentals Inc. and driven by Xavier Izyk, 21 of Fulton, NY.

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, Central Square Fire Department, Brewerton Volunteer Fire Department, and Menter Ambulance.
