Mayor Woodward proclaims October 13 – 19 Knights of Columbus Week

Knights of Columbus Week
October 13th – 19th, 2013

WHEREAS, Saint Joseph’s Council, No. 254, Knights of Columbus of Fulton, New York is celebrating its 116th anniversary this year, having been chartered on August 1, 1897; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of the Knights of Columbus is to strengthen the faith among its members, promote fraternity among them and provide financial security for widows and children of the members; the order supports four ideals; Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism within its 1.6 million members in 12,000 local councils; and

WHEREAS, during the past 116 years, Saint Joseph’s Council, No. 254, Knights of Columbus, has exemplified the ideals of the order by assisting many local organizations in charitable work and making several financial contributions annually to local and regional community service programs; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of this city to recognize and pay tribute to those organizations of high purpose and worthy accomplishment whose endeavors have faithfully served the welfare of the citizens of the City of Fulton.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ronald L. Woodward, Sr., Mayor of the City of Fulton, on behalf of the Common Council, congratulate the Saint Joseph’s Council, No 254, Knights of Columbus for its 116 years of service to the community and do hereby proclaim the week of October 13th – 19th, 2013 as Knights of Columbus week in the City of Fulton.
