COVID-19 Statistics Update, June 30, 2020

James Weatherup briefs the public.

OSWEGO COUNTY – According to the Oswego County Health Department, as of 3 p.m. today, there have been four additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) since yesterday.

The cumulative reported number is 201 cases across the county and of those, 174 have recovered and four have died.

Oswego County Legislature Chairman James Weatherup posted a briefing video today, discussing updates regarding preparing for the predicted second wave of COVID-19 later this year.

“We are now entering our fifth month of the coronavirus pandemic in Oswego County,” Weatherup said. “We have made so much progress over the last four months; we all need to be aware that the virus is still active in our community. It is still a dangerous virus. If you feel sick and have symptoms, please stay home and get tested.”

Weatherup said the county is preparing for the predicted second wave of COVID-19 later this year and taking a proactive approach.

He said all the county departments have had a portion of money from the departmental budget to a contingency account, they are carefully tracking COVID-19 expenses and overtime, personal protective equipment and other costs related to the pandemic.

“These expenses should be reimbursed by the federal government,” Weatherup said.

Weatherup said this upcoming Thursday the legislature’s Finance and Personnel Committee will vote on a recommendation to allocate another $100,000 to the COVID-19 Emergency Fund, and the full legislature will vote on the matter July 9.

He also said all appointments for tomorrow’s COVID-19 mobile testing clinic in Fulton have all been filled and will announce more clinics when they are scheduled.

Weatherup said the county is still receiving complaints of businesses not enforcing face masks or social distancing. He said those with questions or concerns should call the health department’s hotline on weekdays at 315-349-3330. If there is no answer, leave a message and someone will respond dur

With the holiday weekend approaching, he reminded residents that although gatherings of up to 50 people are allowed, to be smart about activities.

“Staying safe from infection is still our highest priority,” Weatherup said.

Today’s statistics are below.

Areas With Cases (alphabetical order):

COVID-19 has been identified in the cities of Fulton and Oswego and the towns of Boylston, Constantia, Granby, Hannibal, Hastings, Mexico, Minetto, New Haven, Orwell, Oswego, Palermo, Parish, Redfield, Richland, Sandy Creek, Schroeppel, Scriba, Volney, West Monroe and Williamstown.

The county does not release the town/city of individual cases. If there has been a new case and a new area has not been added, that means it is in an area that has already been affected before. Once an area is added it is not removed from the list because the county does not say when a town/city no longer has a case.
