Catholic Charities Accepting Applications For Thanksgiving, Christmas Food Baskets

FULTON, NY – With the holiday season fast approaching, the Emergency Assistance Program at Catholic Charities of Oswego County is currently planning its annual distribution of Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets.

Last year more than 400 families in our community enjoyed a healthy holiday feast thanks to the efforts of Catholic Charities.

Program coordinator, Judy Egan, anticipates an even larger demand for food baskets this year.

“Based on the reception to our regular food distributions we are planning on exceeding the amount of baskets we distributed last year. With the help of our hard working volunteers and the generous donations from the community, we will hopefully be able to meet all the requests we receive,” she said. “I would like everyone to be able to enjoy a complete holiday meal.”

Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets are complete with a turkey and all the trimmings.

The Christmas baskets also include gifts for the children through the “Let’s Give For a Kid” program.

Apply in person, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Catholic Charities food pantry, 365 W. First St.

To apply for a food basket you must reside in the Fulton area, provide Social Security cards for everyone in the household and a recent piece of mail, with name and address, postmarked within the past 30 days.

Applications for Thanksgiving baskets will be accepted Nov. 1 through Nov. 12.

Applications for Christmas baskets will be accepted Nov. 1 through Nov. 30, or until quotas are met.

Applicants can receive one basket per household and may choose either Thanksgiving or Christmas.
